Bio
Once upon a time, in the small, quaint village of Misaki, there lived a young foal. His name was Kisomaru. He was good with a katana. Good enough, in fact, he was able to beat many of the other foals in his master's dojo, and even most of the adults. But there was one foal who he couldn't beat, his sensei's sole daughter, Hitomi.
The two had fought more times than he could count, and he had lost to her every single time. After their most recent fight, Kisomaru challenged Hitomi in private to one last match, this time with real swords. The battle was fierce, but in the end, Hitomi had won once more, despite Kisomaru's improvement. Frustrated, Kisomaru told her of his dream to be the greatest swordsman in all of Fœnum. Hearing this, she shared that she, too, had the same dream, but knew that she could never attain it. The two then made a promise – that either of them would become Fœnum's best swordsman.
The very next day, Hitomi was attacked by some wolves that managed to escape The Hold. While Kisomaru managed to fight them off, one of them had told them that, in 13 turns of the seasons, the predators would be coming back, this one attack being nothing more than a warning. While the two had returned safely, Hitomi was rushed to the infirmary. While she survived, her injuries were too servere for her to keep fighting. Realizing that she would never have the chance to fulfill her lifelong dream, he took it upon himself, asking his sensei for her sword, saying that he would continue fighting for her sake. Sensei agreed, and he set off on his own journey.
He has traveled across Fœnum ever since, continuing to hone his skills well into adulthood, striking down any who would dare stand in his way. He is now known (and feared) across Fœnum as Kisomaru the Wanderer, Key Seeker of Misaki and master Samurai.
Trivia
Kisomaru was largely inspired by Roronoa Zoro and the Sengoku Basara version of Masamune Date, both of which were voiced by Kazuya Nakai. He has blue eyes, much like Masamune's anime appearance, but has Zoro's eye shape and post-timeskip scar (though it's on his right eye rather than his left).
His sword-based fighting style was also inspired by said characters.
His appearance was partly modeled after Masamune Date's horse.
His backstory is very similar to Zoro's, though Kisomaru's rival, Hitomi, instead of dying in an accident, was injured by predators so badly that she could never fight again.
